To Catch A Case is a feature-length documentary that investigates a decades-long pattern of wrongful murder convictions in Chicago, all tied to one retired homicide detective: Reynaldo Guevara.
Filmed over eight years with unprecedented access to Chicago’s criminal courts, the film documents the personal and political battle for exoneration and accountability. It centers the voices of those most impacted—survivors, families, and community advocates—and explores the far-reaching damage caused by a justice system that prioritized convictions over the truth.
The Humboldt Park neighborhood, and Chicago’s Puerto Rican community more broadly, have carried the weight of these injustices for generations. This film is part of a larger engagement campaign to amplify their stories and push for systemic change.
