SUMMARY:To Catch A Case – Teaser Screening
DESCRIPTION:To Catch A Case – Teaser Screening and Community Panel\nThursday\, August 28\, 2025\n3:00PM-6:00 PM\nat OPEN Center for the Arts\n2214 S Sacramento Ave. Chicago IL 60623 \nFree and open to the public. \nTo Catch A Case is a feature-length documentary that investigates a decades-long pattern of wrongful murder convictions in Chicago\, all tied to one retired homicide detective: Reynaldo Guevara. \nFilmed over eight years with unprecedented access to Chicago’s criminal courts\, the film documents the personal and political battle for exoneration and accountability. It centers the voices of those most impacted—survivors\, families\, and community advocates—and explores the far-reaching damage caused by a justice system that prioritized convictions over the truth. \nThe Humboldt Park neighborhood\, and Chicago’s Puerto Rican community more broadly\, have carried the weight of these injustices for generations. This film is part of a larger engagement campaign to amplify their stories and push for systemic change. \nFollowing the teaser screening\, there will be a conversation with:\nMargaret Byrne\, director of To Catch A Case\nRoosevelt Myles\, film participant and exoneree \nWe invite you to join us for the screening and join the ongoing conversation.

SUMMARY:The Wild Marshall Square Sculpture Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:We’re thrilled to launch The Wild Marshall Square Sculpture Exhibition! \nIn 2017\, artists from OPEN Center for the Arts partnered with Lincoln Park Zoo to create The Wild Project—uniting 4-\, 5-\, and 6-year-olds with zoo scientists to explore endangered species through discussion\, role play\, drawing\, and sculpture design. \nTen of the children’s drawings were turned into life-sized sculptures—now coming together for the first time! Each piece raises awareness of our connection to and impact on endangered species. This free exhibition continues OPEN’s commitment to accessible art and community engagement. \nJoin us for an evening of art\, entertainment\, and light bites as we celebrate these young artists and their creativity.
